SEC Football is finally back in our lives once again. Our Week 1 Power Rankings looks like garbage after this week’s contests. Now we will take another stab at it.

We’ll do the power rankings for all the SEC football teams like we did last time.  We’ll give a few reasons why they’re there, though we’ll do it in three sentences or less. The number to the right of the team’s name is their overall record, followed by their conference record, and then finally by their ranking in last week’s Southbound and Down SEC Football Power Rankings. Let’s dive in.

14. Kentucky 0-2 (0-1) LW: 12

The Wildcats are bad right now, like really bad. They don’t have a quarterback or a defense. Boom Williams is wasted on this dumpster fire of a team.

13. Vanderbilt 1-1 (0-1) LW: 14

Ralph Webb carried his team to an ugly win over Middle Tennessee State. If the Commodores want to move up the poll they’ll have to find a passing game. I’m not convinced they can.

12. Missouri 1-1 (0-0) LW: 11

Missouri looked much better in week two, but I remain skeptical. If they beat Georgia this week they will shoot up into the top 10. It’s pretty much all on Drew Lock at this point.

11. South Carolina 1-1 (1-1) LW: 10

South Carolina got crushed by Mississippi State. The same Mississippi State that lost to South Alabama. The Gamecocks are probably too high.

10. Mississippi State 1-1 (1-0) LW: 13

After their disastrous start against South Alabama, State rebounded nicely against South Carolina. Nick Fitzgerald is a true dual-threat quarterback. Can the Bulldog defense slow down a powerful LSU rushing attack the way they did Carolina’s?

9. Auburn 1-1 (0-0) LW: 8

Auburn beat the life out of Arkansas State. Sean White looks to have settled in at the quarterback spot. We will see how far he, and a tough Tiger defense, can take Auburn this season.

8. Georgia 2-0 (0-0) LW: 3

Georgia is a tricky team to rank. They have one extremely impressive win and one extremely unimpressive win. We’ll see how they handle Missouri before we move them up or down.

7. LSU 1-1 (0-0) LW: 6

The Tigers have talent, but what will Les Miles do at quarterback? Also, how healthy is Leonard Fournette? We will see this week against a rebuilding Mississippi State squad.

6. Arkansas 2-0 (0-0) LW: 9

The Hogs are steadily climbing up the poll. Austin Allen is a great successor to his brother. If the Hogs keep up their current level of play, they could challenge for the SEC West crown.

5. Ole Miss 1-1 (0-0) LW: 4

The Rebels feel too low here. But I couldn’t justify putting them higher than the teams ahead of them. They have a chance to rocket to number one if they whip Alabama this Saturday.

4. Tennessee 2-0 (0-0) LW: 5

The Volunteers got the ship back on track against Virginia Tech. They have the talent to climb into the top three. Will they be able to bring their best effort on a consistent basis?

3. Florida 2-0 (1-0) LW: 7

The Gators murdered Kentucky and ate their souls. Luke Del Rio is coming along fast. The defense remains incredible.

2. Texas A&M 2-0 (0-0) LW: 2

A&M boasts an improved defense to go along with Kevin Sumlin‘s explosive offense. Trevor Knight looks like the real deal. It helps that he’s surrounded by talented weapons.

1. Alabama 2-0 (0-0) LW: 1

The Tide is clearly still finding itself. They had better find themselves before the game against Ole Miss kicks off. Otherwise they’ll be tumbling down the poll next week.
