Fresno State at Ole Miss – Multiple injuries took the Rebels out of a shot at the SEC West title and possibly beyond last season. Now, an early-season opener against the possible Mountain West Conference favorite should test the Rebels immediately.
Fresno State coach Tim DeRuyter juggled the Bulldogs’ character last year as they became a rushing outfit behind senior Marteze Walker. Fresno State hopes to have tightened things up on defense as Hugh Freeze will see a quarterback battle between Chad Kelly, Devante Kincade, and Ryan Buchanan hold over into August.
Getting big-play receiver Laquon Treadwell back after a major leg injury will help the new quarterback.
