Vanderbilt Commodores

Who can forget the defending national champion Vanderbilt Commodores. After winning the national championship in 2014, the Commodores are hungry for more.

Vandy defeated Illinois in a three game set this past weekend to advance to Omaha for the second straight season. Illinois was no chump, as many know with the ninth best RPI in the nation. Vanderbilt brings a couple of the nation’s best players to the table in Dansby Swanson (SS) and Carson Fulmer, the teams ace.

Both were drafted in the top 10 in the MLB draft just one hour after they defeated Illinois in game three of the Super Regionals. Both were also named Golden Spike Award finalists.

The Commodores are 45 -19 on the season, but did lose in the SEC Championship game to the Florida Gators. Vanderbilt returns seven starters from the 2014 National Championship team. The lineup is deadly, four starters batting over .300 in the hunt for a second straight championship.
