Bobby Portis, 6-11, Power Forward, Arkansas
Portis, a “sleeper” in this year’s draft has the biggest upside of any SEC player in the NBA Draft outside of the multitude of Kentucky Wildcats.
Portis has a 7-2 wingspan and averaged 17.5 points per game and 8.9 rebounds per game for the Razorbacks in 2014-15. In his two year career at Arkansas, Portis shot over .500 from the field and had a career .737 free throw percentage.

The elite power forwards will be selected early in Round 1 but Portis is one of the players that is on the edge of being a lottery pick. Most mock-drafts have Portis falling in the late teens to teams like the Boston Celtics or the Milwaukee Bucks.
Neither of those teams need a big man right away but I think Portis will fill a utility role at the next level. Being a stretch four on a young team could allow Portis to form into a leadership role like he had at Arkansas and eventually be the face of a franchise.
If Bobby Portis some how falls further than the late teens in the 2015 NBA Draft, a good team will get a steal of a pick bringing in Portis.
He won’t have an immediate impact at the next level, but I think Portis will be a player like Draymond Green, who everyone will doubt originally because he isn’t overpowering. But once he finds his role in the league, look out.
Bobby Portis was a household name in the SEC because people didn’t want to play against him in Fayetteville. It will be like that in the NBA, it will just take time.
