The Florida vs. Florida State football rivalry is one of the most intense out of conference rivalries in America. Florida State has won the last three games in the series, but Florida will be looking to change that this season. Unfortunately, that won’t be an easy task.

Florida State returns seven starting caliber offensive linemen to pave the road for star tailback Dalvin Cook. The wide receiver group is also deep and talented. The only question mark is at quarterback. Redshirt freshman Deondre Francois looks to start there over senior Sean Maguire. The defense should be stout again.

Florida also returns a stingy defense this season, but they have more questions on offense. Luke Del Rio will start at quarterback, but it’s impossible to say how good he will be. The Gators also lost running back Kelvin Taylor to the NFL, and they don’t have any experienced options ready to step in. Finally, the only proven weapon the Gators have at receiver is true sophomore Antonio Callaway.

Prediction: Florida will be improved on offense this season, but it won’t be enough to hang with Florida State, who look to be a potential playoff team. Florida State wins in a close game.
