Wide Receiver

Three Gamecock wide receiver signees should contribute immediately to the South Carolina offense.

More from Southbound and Down

Josh Vann is 5’11 receiver Muschamp expects to make explosive plays once the ball is in his hands. Vann is the second South Carolina signee in two years from Tucker High School in east metro-Atlanta.

Said Muschamp, “most any young man I’ve signed from that school knows about work and effort and toughness. The things we value here in our program.”

Tyquan Johnson is a 6’2” athletic receiver from Sylvania, Georgia. Muschamp said he earned his scholarship with his on campus camp performance. “Sometimes as a receiver, tape can be a little deceiving. He just came to camp and killed it.”

Darius Rush from Greeleyville, South Carolina is the state long jump and triple jump champ. He is 6’2” and brings more length to the Gamecock receiving corps. Muschamp likes the off field attributes Rush brings with him from C.E. Murray High, also. “Another outstanding student, 3.9, 4.0 GPA. His mom, Sonya, teaches at the school.

About his goals for recruiting, Muschamp said, “We wanted to become a longer team, create some more length at multiple positions.” Goal met for the Gamecocks at wide receiver.
