6. South Carolina Gamecocks

Previous Ranking: 7

Rising a spot this week up to No. 6 is South Carolina, as the Gamecocks now sit at 23-2 overall for the year, as well as perfect at 6-0 in SEC play. The Gamecocks originally began the week with a 6-2 loss at Charlotte, but would bounce back this past weekend to remain undefeated at home this season, sweeping Missouri by final scores of 9-8, 8-1, and 5-4.

South Carolina will now travel this week, starting Tuesday night with a matchup at The Citadel. The Gamecocks will then travel this weekend for a conference matchup at Mississippi State.

5. Tennessee Volunteers

Previous Ranking: 6

Entering the top five by rising a spot this week is Tennessee, with the Volunteers now sitting at 19-6 overall, as well as 3-3 in SEC play. After being swept at Missouri a week ago, the Volunteers bounced back in a big way this past week by defeating Western Carolina, 7-0, on Tuesday, as well as sweeping Texas A&M at home during the weekend by final scores of 10-4, 8-7, and 9-6.

The Volunteers will now begin this week at home Tuesday by hosting UNC Asheville. Tennessee will then travel this weekend for SEC baseball play at LSU in what is arguably the conference’s top series this week.
