A month that was headlined by a trio of commitments for the Kentucky Wildcats, as well as a big addition for the Alabama Crimson Tide, here is a look at some of the top SEC basketball recruiting winners during June 2023. (Recruiting rankings according to 247Sports Composite)

Kentucky, Alabama among SEC basketball June 2023 recruiting winners

Kentucky Wildcats

June Commits:

  • 4-star C Somto Cyril
  • 3-star SF Jordan Burks
  • 3-star SG Joey Hart

As mentioned previously, we begin with Kentucky, as the Wildcats added a total of three commits during the month of June, which was the most of any SEC basketball program. Included in those three commitments were also two names to likely round out the Wildcats top-ranked 2023 class, as well as their first commit of the 2024 cycle.

Taking a look at those names, arguably the biggest was that of Somto Cyril, who was the Wildcats 2024 addition during June. Cyril, as mentioned previously, is the Wildcats first addition of the 2024 cycle, and is a highly-rated four-star center who plays for Overtime Elite.

As for the Wildcats pair of 2023 commitments, the highest-rated of the two was that of former Ole Miss commit Jordan Burks, who is a three-star small forward out of Hillcrest Prep (AZ). The Wildcats other 2023 commit came from another three-star wing in shooting guard Joey Hart (Linton-Stockton, IL), who is the seventh commitment overall in Kentucky’s class.

Alabama Crimson Tide

June Commits:

  • 4-star PF Jarin Stevenson

As for Alabama, the Crimson Tide, similar to Kentucky, also landed a key piece to their 2023 class during the month of June. While it was not multiple commitments like the Wildcats, the Crimson Tide however added what was arguably the biggest commit of any SEC basketball team during June in Jarin Stevenson.

Originally considered one of the top frontcourt prospects in the 2024 class, Stevenson would go on to commit to the Crimson Tide toward the back-half of June, as well as reclassify into the 2023 class. As to what the Crimson Tide land in Stevenson, the power forward is a highly-rated four-star prospect, and attends Seaforth High School in North Carolina where he was one of the state’s top players.

Looking ahead, Stevenson is likely to play a key role for the Crimson Tide in 2023-24, and joins an Alabama class alongside others such as Sam Walters, Kris Parker, and Mouhamed Dioubate, with each certainly names to know for the defending SEC basketball champions. As for Stevenson in particular, there is no denying that this was a big addition during June for the Crimson Tide overall.

Missouri Tigers

June Commits:

  • 4-star CG T.O. Barrett

Concluding with a few other notables, there were two additional SEC basketball programs who also added a commitment during the month of June, the first of which was Missouri adding T.O. Barrett. The Tigers first commitment of the 2024 cycle, Barrett is rated as a four-star combo guard out of in-state Link Academy in Missouri.

Auburn Tigers

June Commits:

  • PF Addarin Scott

Auburn also added a commitment during the month of June, which came to the Tigers 2023 class in Addarin Scott. Scott is a JUCO power forward out of Navarro College in Texas, and joins a Tigers 2023 class that also features five-star point guard Aden Holloway.
