As SEC football offenses have continued to evolve, so too has the involvement of the tight end position. Hunter Henry of Arkansas won the Mackey Award last year, and several SEC tight ends made the preseason watch list for the award this year.

SEC football was known as a power run, strong defensive conference for years. Even as SEC offenses have evolved, many continue to view the conference that way. That’s alright by us, though. We’ll just keep adding postseason awards and national championships to our trophy case.

The 2016 John Mackey Award Preseason Watch List has been released, and it is full of SEC tight ends. Those that determine the award’s winner have recognized the growth in SEC offense’s progression, and the conference is looking for a repeat award after Hunter Henry won the award last year.

You can check out the entire list, but we’re going to focus on SEC football. We’ll list each SEC tight end and a percentage chance to win the award. The combined percentages of all the SEC tight ends will be 100, because we expect to win it. Because, you know, SEC football.  We expect to win everything.

Players like O.J. Howard and Evan Engram of Alabama and Ole Miss, respectively, are favored to win the award and will receive a higher percentage. Others, I feel, should be happy just to have made the watch list.

Without further introduction, let’s get to what you came here for:
