Ross Dellenger of the Advocate is reporting that Les Miles has been fired by LSU. Also out, according to Dellenger, is Offensive Coordinator Cam Cameron. The 2016 season would have been Miles’s 12th at LSU.

Miles arrived in LSU in 2005, after Nick Saban left for the NFL. He led the team to two conference titles and one BCS National Championship. He also nearly won another one in the 2011 season before falling to Alabama in the title game.

Defensive Line Coach Ed Orgeron has been promoted to Interim Head Coach. Orgeron has experience coaching in the SEC. His time at Ole Miss was an unmitigated disaster. Nevertheless, Orgeron led USC to a 6-2 record during his time as the Interim Head Coach there.

We will have more information on this story if and when the university and/or Coach Miles make statements. Check back tomorrow for that. Assuming these reports are accurate, we will also have a longer post on Miles’s tenure at LSU and who the Tigers might be targeting as his successor. Tom Herman anyone?
