If you keep score, you play to win, and Georgia won big on National Signing Day, stealing away recruits from evil genius Nick Saban and evil goofball Jim Harbaugh.

There’s no place like home, and Georgia used its home state advantage and the greatest Georgia football season since 1980 to snatch two big-time recruits from Alabama and Michigan. Georgia now has the best recruiting class in the country.

It is possibly the best ever Georgia football recruiting class with the possible exception of the 1980 class, a class that included that, “kid out of Johnson County.”

Out Wrestling Michigan

The Dawgs started the day wrestling four-star linebacker Otis Reese away from Michigan. Reese is the number five ranked outside linebacker in the country

Reese committed to Michigan two years ago, but visited Ann Arbor officially just last month. After visiting Athens two weekends ago, the Leesburg native stayed in the state.

Taking down the Tide

Georgia then flipped the number two ranked outside linebacker in the country, Quay Walker, from Alabama. Walker’s decision was not a big surprise. After committing to the Tide, Walker spent the last four weekends visiting Tennessee, Alabama, Auburn and Georgia.

Alabama defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt is now the Tennessee head coach. The Volunteers held out hope they could convince Walker to join Pruitt in Knoxville. Walker had a little fun with that notion at his signing ceremony, then chose the Dawgs.

The cherry on top of the Georgia football sundae

Georgia then nailed down the number one ranked recruiting class in the country by signing Tyson Campbell of American Heritage High in Fort Lauderdale. Campbell is the number two ranked cornerback in the nation behind his high school teammate and Alabama signee, Patrick Surtain Jr.

 But wait, there’s more

Georgia finished the day with letter-of-intent signatures from four-star wide receiver Tommy Bush of Texas  and defensive tackle Tramel Walthour of Liberty County High.

This Georgia football class is homegrown. The final tally shows 15 players signed from the state of Georgia, seven five-star players signed, three of the top-ten national ranked players signed and ten of the top 51 national ranked players signed.

As the Head Ball Coach himself used to say, “Pretty good, pretty good.”
