Average Rank – 1
No. First Place Votes – 2
No. Last Place Votes – None

Music, food, beautiful campus, picturesque surroundings, a huge open stadium and just over an hour from Atlanta. It’s hard to beat Athens when it comes to SEC towns, and our panel almost unanimously had the home of the Dawgs ranked either first or second on their ballots.

“It is really hard for a guy who grew up a Vols fan to put Athens as the top college town in the SEC, but there’s no denying it. If you could draw the perfect college town, Athens would be it. All college towns have nice restaurants and bar scenes, but this one takes it to another level. Downtown Athens has the best food of any town in the SEC by far, and the buildings are beautiful. Most of the scene is just right off campus as well, and Sanford Stadium is pretty nice.”

“There’s something for everyone, from a legendary music scene to top-notch dining, shopping and a beautiful setting, it’s a great place to spend four years… or five, six or seven.”
