  • One of the favorite pastimes of any SEC football fan is to scour the internet for recruiting news and rankings. SEC fans love to hear that big-time commits are choosing their conference (and hopefully their school) and will beef up the championship hopes for the SEC once again.

    The last couple of months have been interesting, with some very big names committing early, much of which has to do with the way the recruiting schedules are laid out and even the chatter of a possible early signing period being instituted. Players don’t want to find themselves in an awkward position when February arrives.

    Two months ago, we summarized the 2016 class rankings using the 247 Sports, Rivals, ESPN and Scout.com rankings averaged out. The biggest gainer since March, the Florida Gators who jumped up 18 spots to an average No. 15 ranking. The biggest fall came from the Auburn Tigers — who have had several decommits and not added many new recruits — falling 13 spots to a No. 25 average ranking.

    Most ranking services have either Miami, Florida State or Ohio State on the top of their rankings, with no SEC team coming in higher than fourth.
