He Believes in Giving Players Another Chance

This has gotten him in the trouble recently, but most of the time Saban has helped others, it has paid off for them. Former linebacker Rolando McClain returned to Tuscaloosa after getting in trouble with the law and was welcomed with open arms by his former head coach. McClain was allowed to interact with the players and act as a sort of defensive coach for Saban, which changed his life. McClain, who had retired at the time from the NFL, turned his life around and eventually ended up with the Dallas Cowboys a better man and a better player.

Saban also wrote a letter of recommendation for Ricky Williams so he could get a coaching job overseas(Williams played briefly for Saban while he was in Miami). Williams said in a recent documentary, that he’d run through a wall for Saban, so most of the time Saban has given a player a second chance; it has worked out.
