With former A&M quarterback Kenny Hill off to TCU, the Aggies will be in the hands of sophomore Kyle Allen.
Allen was the backup to Hill through the first eight games of 2014, but as a starter, Allen went 2-2 passing for 764 yards and nine touchdowns.
If the team gets behind Allen and the coaching staff lets him move around outside of the pocket a little more to experiment in the running game, this kid can be a star and this team will definitely win some games.
Last season, the Aggies averaged 34.4 points per game and led the SEC in passing while going 8-5. All five of the Aggies losses in 2014 came at the hands of SEC opponents.
This year’s team down in College Station can bring the Aggies to the top of the SEC West and contend for a title against Alabama and Auburn.
‘Johnny Football’ and Kenny ‘Trill’ don’t have to be the only names remembered for being top-notch quarterbacks in recent A&M history.
2015 is Kyle Allen’s time to shine, 2014 was just a precursor.
This year’s A&M team will not only have to score a lot of points, but they also will need to stop teams on defense as well. A major part of the Aggies problem last year was they could not stop anyone.
If new Aggie defensive coordinator John Chavis can make any kind of improvement on that side of the ball, the Aggies have a chance to win the West.
