Sugar Bowl: Georgia

The guys in the suits know that the fans of Georgia shouldn’t be visiting the Dome in Atlanta for two consecutive games, so they’ll land here.

  • And the reason they’ll be in Atlanta the first time around? No other than franchise running back Nick Chubb, who is an absolute freak, and that’s one statement Southbound and Down won’t get hate mail for; hopefully.

The Dawgs are looking for a quarterback, and they won’t find one until the end of the preseason. The battle is between heavy-armed Brice Ramsey and nifty and accurate ‘slinger Faton Bauta. Experience is a problem, however.

Enter former UVA quarterback Greyson Lambert? Who knows.

Not only that, but the Dogs lost some receivers as well. Malcolm Mitchell will head the under experienced group.

On defense, Georgia is battle-tested and ready. The art of the pass rush should be nearly perfected with NFL-ready guys like Leonard Floyd and Jordan Jenkins. Uncertainty remains at linebacker and cornerback, but coordinator Jeremy Pruitt hopes to develop talent at the positions.

A favorite in the softer Eastern Division, Georgia should be able to ride Nick Chubb and the defense to Atlanta.
