If we SEC fans have learned one thing, it’s that the Missouri Tigers should never be counted out of the SEC title conversation.
Southbound and Down projects that the two-time Eastern Division champs will be ousted by Georgia, but fans in Columbia will be eager to prove college football wrong once again.
Gary Pinkel returns 12 starters to the table in the Show Me State, one of them being junior quarterback Maty Mauk, who threw for 2,648 yards and twenty-five touchdowns in ’14.
He will be accompanied by mobile weapon Russell Hansborough at running back, as well as an experienced offensive line that could use improvement. The receiving corps are a question mark, as only three athletes caught passes in college action.
The defense is tough and seasoned, but the defensive line will need to reload. Usually, that isn’t a problem for ‘Zou. The schedule is manageable, but games against Georgia and Tennessee should be important deciding factors.
After its all said and done, we won’t be surprised if Missouri wins eight or nine games and makes a trip to Memphis to take on a former Big 12 opponent.
