2. Bo Jackson, Auburn
The two-sport superstar, Bo Jackson is the second greatest running back of all-time in the SEC. His Heisman win came three years after the best player in the history of college football ran all over the SEC and national opponents.
His numbers were slightly overshadowed by people’s fascination with him being able to play football and baseball and the fact that Walker had better numbers than him three years prior.
Nonetheless, Jackson is fourth all-time in the SEC in rushing yards with 4303 and sixth in touchdowns with 43.
Bo is one of three Heisman winners to come from the running back position in the SEC, but definitely was the best all-around athlete out of the three of them on and off the football field.
In his final year at Auburn, Jackson led the SEC with 1786 rushing yards, the second most in the country and averaged 6.4 yards per carry.
For his career, Jackson averaged 6.6 yards a gain. That’s getting a first down almost every time and a half that he would touch the ball.
Jackson is the type of talent that will likely never be duplicated due to people trying to protect their bodies and not play multiple sports due to the risk of injury. Bo was a stud and definitely one of the best running backs in SEC history.
