Not Even In the Discussion

Derek Mason – Vanderbilt Commodores
Mark Stoops – Kentucky Wildcats

We put Mason and Stoops in this group because…well, it’s Vandy and Kentucky. With all due respect to these two quality coaches, their football programs simply don’t have the depth — in talent or pockets — to win the SEC, less yet a national championship.

Stoops could probably pull it off at another school, but not likely in Lexington.

We love the ‘Dores and ‘Cats, but they both get us more excited during hoops season, so it’s not likely that you’ll ever see either of these coaches hoisting more than an also-ran bowl trophy over their heads while in the SEC at their current stops.
