Elliott Fry, Junior, South Carolina
Fry, a 2014 Groza award semifinalist and 2nd team All-SEC honoree, is returning to Columbia to continue to write his college football story. He went 18-of-25 on field goal attempts last season and his longest was from 47 yards.
Beyond giving his team an advantage when they can’t hit pay dirt, Fry was also automatic when attempting extra points in 2014 for the Gamecocks.
During his career at South Carolina, Fry has made 105-of-106 extra point attempts, including his last 99 in a row, becoming one of the most consistent place-kickers in the country.
If Fry can connect on 20 field goals this season and really carry South Carolina through some games as the clock winds down in the fourth quarter, I think Fry puts himself in contention for the Lou Groza award in 2015.
