The state of Mississippi has yet to lay claim to a Heisman Trophy. While rival Ole Miss has come close on a few occasions, Dak has a chance to give Mississippi State its first serious Hesiman contender since 1944 (Tom “Shorty” McWilliams). Following one of the best seasons Mississippi State has ever had, it is only right that they have at least one preseason candidate to win the nation’s top award.
Dak Prescott threw for over 3000 yards and 27 touchdowns in 2014, helping Dan Mullen and the Bulldogs earn a ten win season. After losing three out of their last four games, Prescott will want to prove he can bounce back as one of the best quarterbacks in 2015. It order do so, he will have to perform better against the defenses of Ole Miss and Alabama than he did in 2014. If he can do that, Prescott has a shot at the Heisman and another special season for Mississippi State.
