Derek Mason (Evaluation)

Derek Mason made a name for himself leading stingy defenses at Stanford.  He made a new name for himself as a well-dressed coach at SEC Media days.

That is about as many positive remarks can be made about his first year at Vanderbilt.  Robbie Caldwell stepped up after Bobby Johnson resigned in 2010.  He went 2-10 and did not remain as head coach.

3-9 was good enough for Mason to at least get a second year, but the future does not look bright.  For Vanderbilt or his head coach resume.
