Tennessee improves vastly, but doesn’t win the East

Every year the media picks a preseason darling. This year that darling comes out of Rocky Top. Tennessee barely qualified for a bowl game in ’14, but after a blowout victory over a mediocre Iowa Hawkeyes team, fans in Knoxville are having visions of great things for their beloved Volunteers.

And those fans are having those visions for good reasons. The Vols return an elusive quarterback in Joshua Dobbs, as well as a number of skill players and an improved defense.

However, until Southbound and Down sees results in Rocky Top, we won’t be the crowning UT preseason champs. Why? We’ve seen what happens to teams that are labeled with great expectations. Just ask South Carolina in 2014.
