Week 1 – Sept. 5: Arizona State, NRG Stadium – Houston, Texas

The Aggies will have a form of home field advantage playing in their home state, but the ending scoreline will favor the No. 15 Sun Devils. The last time the Sun Devils lost a season opener was in 2002 against the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

Over the last ten years, the Aggies haven’t taken on a non-conference ranked opponent in week one. The heightened talent of their opponent will be a shocking start to a hopeful season.

Texas A&M is looking forward to testing out their revamped defense under new defensive coordinator John Chavis, who they stole away from LSU, and are hoping to contend in the brutal SEC West.

The Sun Devils will be led by senior wide receiver D.J. Foster who led the team in rushing yards and touchdowns in 2014. The explosive offense of the Sun Devils will exploit early flaws in the Aggies’ defense and Foster will rush for two touchdowns.

The loss to Arizona State will be a poor start to a disappointing season for Sumlin and the Aggies.

Record after week one: 0-1
