Scouting the Gamecocks: Defense

The defense was a disaster in 2014 and is one of the main reasons why the Gamecocks finished 7-6 in ’14. The nation’s 92nd ranked unit, SC has made some personnel changes on the field and on the sidelines for the upcoming season.

The addition of Jon Hoke at defensive coordinator should be a plus, as well as the switch to a 4-3 look. An influx of junior college and transfer talent such as four-star JUCO end Marquavius Lewis and All-Big 12 safety Isiah Johnson should energize a unit that looks to return to days of old.
