Week 2 – Sept. 12: Home vs. Fresno State, Vaught-Hemingway Stadium Oxford, Mississippi
For the second straight week the Rebels draw a non-conference opponent into Oxford for what is sure to be a blowout victory.
Quarterback Chad Kelly will separate himself from other two quarterbacks he is currently in a battle with in week two, gaining the trust of the coaching staff and the team heading into their biggest game of the season.
According to Ben Garrett of Scout.com, Kelly beat out sophomores Ryan Buchanan and DeVante Kincade for the starting job but the battle will be ongoing.
In order for the Rebels to be successful from week three forward, they need to deal with the quarterback position early. They can’t have a situation against Alabama in week three where they don’t know who to put in because all quarterback options are equally detrimental.
If Freeze and the Rebels can figure out which direction their offense needs head in order to thrive early on in the first two games, my predictions for the rest of the year will be spot on. They will be kept right on target too if the team can stay healthy.
Record after week two: 2-0
