Mark Stoops has got the bluegrass nation believing early again this season, while Jim McElwain is simply trying to teach the Gator football team the importance of discipline(See McElwain’s tirade directed at running back Kelvin Taylor from last weekend). Kentucky took to Columbia, SC last weekend, and walked away with a win over the Gamecocks for the second year in a row. This weekend, the Florida Gators enter Lexington vying for Jim McElwain’s first SEC victory as a head coach. Last year, Kentucky was close against the Gators. They even arguably should have won the game. Kentucky, trying to take the next step, needs to take care of business against a Florida Gators team that looks ripe for the picking and avoid more regrets of what “should have been.” How much will the name “Florida” factor in to Kentucky’s mental preparation before the game? Is Kentucky ready to complete the job they were unable to do a year ago? Will Florida be able to put together a complete game on both sides of the ball? The battle in Lexington will be one to watch, and I believe it will shape the Easter Division’s landscape more than it is being given credit for as of this writing.
