Alabama: Defense

If the Tide are going to roll, Kirby Smart and the ‘Bama defense will need to shut down the ‘Rebs traditional spread attack.

Providing expert analysis, Ole Miss head coach Hugh Freeze breaks down Alabama’s defense more effectively than most could.

The Tide will throw a “mixture of odd and even fronts… and “have guys that can two-gap you on one play and then get on the edge on the next play.” Additionally, “(t)heir back ends are going to keep you guessing on whether it is man or zone and they disguise it well.”

You can find more of that analysis here.

The Crimson Tide’s run defense gets the job done, allowing only 63 rushing yards per game. It’ll be up to corners Cyrus Jones, Marlon Humphery, and the rest of 2014’s seventeenth best college football secondary to stop a potent Ole Miss attack.
