These top 3 candidates are not only the best 3 running backs in the conference, but they are the best 3 running backs in the country.
What a surprise, Alabama has a Heisman candidate at running back. This Derrick Henry though…..he is an absolute monster. He possesses the most important characteristic of a Heisman hopeful — and that is the ability to shine when the lights are brightest. Derrick Henry had 18 carries for 96 yards and 3 touchdowns against Middle Tennessee State. Nobody would care if he had 300 against Middle Tennessee State, to be honest. This is the Heisman we are talking about here. In his other two games against Wisconsin and Ole Miss, Henry has 41 carries for 274 yards and 4 touchdowns.
Opposing defenses have no reason to respect the pass and they are loading the box. How does he do it? Just watch him play! Seeing a man that big run that fast . . . just doesn’t seem fair. If Alabama can recover and get to Atlanta, look for Derrick Henry to be invited to the Heisman ceremony because he will be the reason Alabama gets as far as they do this year.
