Location: AT&T Stadium, Arlington, TX

Game Time: Saturday, September 26 7:00PM ET

TV:  ESPN

Big state, big city, big stadium . . .big game?  Well the first three are correct, but this game is no longer as “big” as maybe the pre-season prognosticators pictured it being before the season started.  Arkansas, a pre-season media darling from the SEC West, is in serious trouble after dropping yet another out of conference game at home to Texas Tech.  Brett Bielema took a beating on the field and then another beating off the field (PG-Version) from Texas Tech head coach Kliff Kingsbury.

At some point, Arkansas is going to have to look in the mirror and realize 6 wins may be hard to come by this year.  After looking at Arkansas’s schedule I just don’t see 6 wins.  Maybe I’m wrong.  The Razorbacks caught fire on the back end of last season, but they also played inspired football earlier in the year, which gave hope.  I do not see a lot of hope in Fayettville, and in year 3 of Bielema’s tenure, there are expectations and standards to meet that now come with the territory.

The last thing Arkansas wants to face this weekend is a team that can move the ball well, but exactly what Texas A&M is known for.  The Aggies will look to burn the weak Arkansas defense all night in Arlington and the game should never be in question.  One thing to watch will be how well the Texas A&M defense handles Arkansas’s run game.  Rumblings are beginning to surface, ever so slightly, but the Aggies may be a team to watch in the Western Division as the season progresses.  Lastly, what kind of effort does Arkansas generate in this throwback game of sorts?

Note:  Arkansas and Texas A&M were once members of the old “SWC” or Southwest Conference.  The conference was established in 1914, and ultimately dissolved in 1996.  Arkansas departed early in 1991 to ultimately join the SEC, while A&M departed in 1996 to created the Big XII conference.
