2. Derrick Henry
Derrick Henry finds himself in the number 2 spot simply by default. His unimpressive performance versus Arkansas amounted to 27 carries for 95 yards and a touchdown. By no means are these impressive numbers, and what is troubling for Alabama fans is that it seems Derrick Henry really hasn’t taken that NEXT step. Yes, he is a top tier running back, but for a school that his seen their recent running backs put up insane numbers, and seen Ingram and Richardson go to New York, Derrick Henry’s numbers seem pedestrian.
Henry’s season numbers look like this: 665 yards rushing on 120 carries for a 5.5 ypc average, an d 10 touchdowns. The touchdowns look great, but his other numbers not so much. In fact, he only has 7 receptions on the year for 51 yards and no touchdowns.
As much as I want to drop Henry from our Heisman Hopefuls top 3, there hasn’t been a consistent enough player to supersede the beast from Alabama. Over the course of the season, I do expect that to change.
