Alabama: Defense

When college football and defense are mentioned in the same sentence, you just might be talking about Kirby Smart’s Alabama unit. Last weekend against Texas A&M, the secondary put on quite the show. They picked off Kyle Allen four times, returning three for touchdown scores.

But the secondary isn’t the reason the Tide rock one of the nation’s top defenses. It’s Alabama’s pass rush, which is tied for eighth in the nation at the moment. Eleven players share 22 sacks; it’s not a stretch to say that ‘Bama is sharing the wealth.

If that’s not enough to chew on, consider this: ‘Bama’s rush defense allows a mere 77.3 yards per game.  In addition, the unit leads in total defense in college football’s premier conference.
