10.  Ole Miss 12-6 (2-4)-  Head Coach Andy Kennedy and his Ole Miss Rebels go up and down with their star Stefan Moody.  Yes, Moody leads the SEC in points per game, but he is shooting at a 43 percent clip.  His assist to turnover range is near 1:1 and in order to win the close games, Ole Miss needs

their star to be more careful with the ball.

9.  Auburn 9-8 (3-3)-  After 3 straight double digit losses to South Carolina, Missouri, and Vanderbilt, it looked like Auburn was heading right back down to last in my SEC Basketball Power Rankings.  Then they shocked everybody by bouncing back to beat Kentucky on national television and a hard fought win over in-state rival Alabama.

8.  Arkansas 9-9 (3-3)-  Arkansas is fading fast.  Everyone expected Arkansas to be better than this after 18 games.  We all knew Michael Qualls and Bobby Portis would be huge losses, but Arkansas looks to be missing them more than anticipated.  It’s worth noting that Arkansas statistically ranks amongst the best in the nation in offense, and the guard play of Jabril Durham has kept Arkansas in many games.  Durham really helps protect the ball by averaging over 7 assists per game compared to only 2.2 turnovers per game.

7.  Georgia 10-6 (3-3)-  Outside of a bad loss to Chattanooga, Georgia is surpassing expectations this year.  Forward Yante Manten has played great while he averages 16.2 points per games shooting at 52.7% from the field.  Guard J.J. Frazier helps protect the ball, averaging better than the ideal 2:1 assist to turnover ratio.  The next 3 weeks will really tell us more about Georgia as they face LSU, Baylor, South Carolina and Kentucky in 4 of their next 6 games.

6.  Vanderbilt 11-7 (3-3)-  Vanderbilt has the makings of a great team.  They’ve shown promise and their only double digit loss on the year came at Purdue.  As the season has progressed, that loss seems to be a little more acceptable.  Our questions about Vanderbilt will be answered in the coming weeks, just like Georgia.  Vanderbilt’s next four games are at Kentucky, vs Florida, at Texas and vs Texas A&M.
