SEC Baseball: A Preview of Each SEC Team’s Super Regional
LSU
LSU breezed through the first 2 games of their regional, and after they dropped a game to Rice, they pulled through with a 5-2 score to clinch their spot in this weekend’s super regional. They now find themselves up against a sneaky Coastal Carolina team that came out of the Raleigh Regional where they upset a great North Carolina State team. So, if LSU sleeps on Coastal Carolina, it could be a quicker than expected exit.
Looking at the numbers from the regionals, these teams are performing nearly identical in every category. LSU is batting .300 and Coastal Carolina is batting .299. The Coastal Carolina pitching staff has earned a 3.00 ERA and LSU could improve as they currently have an ERA of 3.86. LSU does have a rather large edge frequency of getting strikeouts which could come in handy as they are currently striking out opponents with a rate of 9.0 K/9.
Next: Which Dakota Hudson will We See?
I’m sure regular season competition and the home field advantage are playing a big role in making LSU a -250 favorite. If I was betting, the +190 line for Coastal Carolina would be mighty tempting. But who am I expecting to win? I’m siding with Vegas on this one but I’m not anywhere near confident enough to throw down 250 dollars to just win 100.
