SEC Baseball: A Preview of Each SEC Team’s Super Regional
Texas A&M
Do you think Texas A&M has forgotten what happened last year? I don’t think so either, and the last thing TCU wants is for Texas A&M to find any additional motivation. Don’t get me wrong, TCU is a great baseball team and they swept their regional on the way to this College Station Super Regional, but Texas A&M has been on a roll.
Texas A&M has been running wild since losing their first double elimination game in the 2016 SEC Baseball Tournament to Vanderbilt by a score of 6-5. They went on to win the tournament by coming from behind late in the games against Ole Miss and Florida. They’ve gone on to show that offensive outburst was no fluke as they are averaging 11.3 runs per game coming into this super regional. The pitching is no joke either, as the Aggies’ pitching staff has an ERA of 1.67. An area in which TCU would’ve hoped to have a bigger advantage as they currently have a team ERA of 1.33.

TCU is no slouch with the bat either, as they are hitting .318 as a team, but I think Texas A&M is just too hot right now. With the memory of last year adding to the fire of being in front of their home crowd, the only danger Texas A&M has to be wary of is getting too pumped up. Letting emotions boil over can cause you to lose your focus, but when that energy is harnessed the right way, it can make a team unbeatable. I look for Texas A&M to make good on their -325 line. TCU at +250 and being a 1 seed makes it mighty tempting to bet on the underdog, but I’d do my best to stay away from it.
