Last year Florida’s offense was humming along nicely under the guidance of quarterback Will Grier. But then Grier got busted for performance enhancing drugs and was suspended for the remainder of the season. This caused the Gator offense to promptly take a nosedive into the nearest portable toilet.

Jim McElwain deserves all the credit in the world for managing to coax an SEC East title out of Treon “50 percent passer” Harris. To be clear, Harris was a complete, unmitigated disaster of a quarterback. Thankfully for Florida fans he is no longer in Gainesville. Unfortunately for Florida fans, neither is Will Grier.

That leaves the quarterback job theoretically wide open. But in reality the job has already one. Luke Del Rio looked great in Florida’s spring game, and the three other quarterbacks looked like hot garbage. Del Rio is going to be the guy, and he is going to make the Florida offense dangerous again.
