Week One Predictions for the SEC
By Jake Ingram
#4 Florida State over #11 Ole Miss (+6), Monday 8:00 PM (ET), Camping World Stadium- Orlando, Florida
Perhaps the most intriguing game of the week is the neutral site match-up between the Rebels and the Seminoles. Florida State enters as a prime contender to make the playoff this year while the Rebels enter with playoff dreams of their own. While Ole Miss lost key players such as Laquon Treadwell, Laremy Tunsil, and Robert Nkemdiche, they still return a lot of talent on both sides of the ball. Chad Kelly, who may be the second best quarterback in the country, is one of those returnees. Hugh Freeze has filled the roster up with elite talent so there shouldn’t be much of a drop off for the Rebels.
The problem for the Rebels is that they are basically playing a road game against one of the most talented teams in the country. Dalvin Cook is one of the best players in the country and the quarterback position should be improved under newcomer Deondre Francois. The Seminoles will also boast an elite defensive line, which will cause problems for Kelly and company. Expect the Seminoles to stuff any resemblance of a running game forcing the Rebels to become completely one-dimensional. Chad Kelly is good enough to keep this game within 6 points, though the Seminoles will ultimately prevail.
Prediction: Florida State 37, Ole Miss 34
