Week Two Predictions for the SEC
By Jake Ingram
Tennessee (-11) over Virginia Tech, Saturday 7:00 PM (CT), Bristol Motor Speedway
Tennessee looked far from the playoff contender they were hyped to be, but they managed to sneak out with a win. Many people are already writing off the Vols, but I’m not ready to abandon them yet. They clearly have issues on the offensive line, but the unit should improve with each game. Josh Dobbs played uncharacteristically poor, but I expect him to turn things around starting this week.
Virginia Tech kicked off the Justin Fuente era with a win, but it’s still hard to imagine the Hokies are ready to compete on this stage with the Vols. The Vols are vastly more talented and experienced on both sides of the ball, which makes it hard for me to see this one being close. I expect Tennessee to look like the team everyone expected them to be before the season and make a statement on primetime. Prediction: Tennessee 34, Virginia Tech 13
