1. Who is the Second-Best Team in SEC Football?

Tennessee travels to College Station this Saturday, for a date with the Texas A&M Aggies. For several weeks now, I have ranked A&M second in the Southbound and Down Power Rankings, behind only Alabama. For the last two weeks, Tennessee has been ranked third in those same rankings. It’s safe to say then that this is a battle for second place.

Both teams come into this week’s showdown undefeated. However, Tennessee has struggled mightily while the Aggies have rolled. Can Tennessee pull out another miracle win?

It doesn’t seem likely. Tennessee’s defense has been vulnerable all year. Injuries have only made the problems worse. Tennessee won’t be able to stop the powerful Aggie offense. Trevor Knight has been great so far this year. Trayveon Williams is a blossoming star. And the receiving corps is just plain filthy.

The only chance the Volunteers have then, is to try to outscore Texas A&M. The Volunteer passing game has been inconsistent at best, which means that the Volunteers will have to make their hay on the ground. Unfortunately for them, leading rusher Jalen Hurd will miss the game due to injury. That leaves Alvin Kamara and Joshua Dobbs to carry the load.

The Aggy defense is almost as nasty as it’s offense. Myles Garrett and friends make up one of the premier defensive lines in the country. The linebackers and secondary are fast and physical. I think A&M has what it takes to shut down the Volunteer run game. As a result Aggies win big.
