#1 Alabama (-7.5) over #15 LSU, Saturday 7:00 PM (CT), Tiger Stadium

My number one rule from the list that I made last week will be put to the test. I really think LSU has a chance to find some success against the Tide, but I vowed not to pick against Alabama until they gave me a reason to. It’s really for that reason alone that I’m picking the Crimson Tide to cover. LSU is riding a wave of confidence and has the type of defense that could give the Bama offense problems. Jalen Hurts has shown impeccable poise this season, but he has yet to face an environment as hostile as Tiger Stadium. I fully expect the LSU defense to force a couple of turnovers from the true freshman to keep them in the game.

The problem for LSU is that I still don’t think they have an offense that is capable of beating the Crimson Tide. Danny Etling has been an upgrade from Brandon Harris, but the transfer QB doesn’t have what it takes to truly threaten the Tide secondary. Even with the loss of Eddie Jackson, Bama should be able to stifle the Tigers passing attack once again. I do expect Leonard Fournette to have more success on the ground against the Tide than last season, but it won’t be enough to pull off the upset. I expect the Tigers to hang around, but the game will ultimately swing on a couple of Etling turnovers as the Bama pass rush will continue to dominate. Alabama 27, LSU 17
