SEC Running Backs To Watch

Derrius Guice– LSU

Being the backup to an all-everything like Leonard Fournette has its drawbacks, but it’s also not without its advantages. Last year when Fournette wasn’t able to go, Guice filled in quite aptly, to the point of many thinking he may be just as good as Fournette.

Guice is a punishing runner, and being featured in this new LSU offense may lend him a lot more touches in terms of catching passes out of the backfield. One thing is for certain, look for Guice to be an early Heisman mention this season.

Kamryn Pettway – Auburn

Auburn’s running game seems to flourish no matter how much the team struggles, and Pettway was a bright spot in an up and down year for the Tigers last season.

With 1,238 yards from scrimmage last season, Pettway helped grind out some big wins for the Tigers – and all of that with missing three games. He’ll be looked upon to carry the load again this season, as the quarterback situation on the Plains is still somewhat shaky,

Gus Malzahn will find ways to get Pettway the ball this season, and to be honest, he may have few choices outside of the 240-pound tailback.
