SEC Football Way-Too-Early 2017-18 Hot Takes
SEC Heisman Hopefuls
Jalen Hurts – QB, Alabama
Hurts had just about as successful a true freshman year as you could possibly imagine, coming just one win shy of leading his team to a national championship. Some may look for a sophomore slump from the Tide signal-caller, but everything points to Hurts being a true student of the game. He’ll show up ready for another title run and will be in the early Heisman talk.
Kamryn Pettway – RB, Auburn

NFL Mocks
Pettway has the talent, speed and ability to put himself in the Heisman race, the question is will he be able to amass the stats and highlight reel moments necessary while a part of Gus Malzahn’s tricky eye-candy offense. If Auburn’s quarterback problems continue in 2017, Uncle Gus will have to resort to putting the ball in Pettway’s hands a lot.
Derrius Guice – RB, LSU
What do you call a guy who nearly gained 1,000 yards from scrimmage in each of his first two seasons while playing backup to Leonard Fournette? A probable Heisman candidate.
Dark Horse: Nick Chubb – RB, Georgia
Would it really be a Heisman discussion if we weren’t talking about a running back from Georgia? Chubb started off hot last season, returning from a terrible knee injury the prior year, but ran out of gas early. Chubb came back this season because he still has more to prove, and with a lot of tread left on his tires, he may have something to say about who wins the Heisman.
