DL, Jonathan Allen

Allen had a solid showing, but didn’t “wow” anyone with his combine numbers. He ran a 5.00 in the 40, benched 225 lbs a solid but not spectacular 21 times, and was somewhat average on the other speed and agility drills.  His 4 years of game tape, however, tell a different story and scouts know this. When you put the man in pads, he is a beast. He was a legitimate Heisman contender on the defensive side of the ball last season, which is no easy feat.

One of the interesting notes to come out of Allen’s time at the combine was the revelation that he has an arthritic condition in his shoulders.  He had surgery on his shoulder prior to the start of last season. Doctors told him however that he should be fine until after his playing career is over. This should not affect his draft position, however, teams are always a little cautious when it comes to pre-existing conditions. Stay tuned.
