(8) Northwestern (23-11)

Northwestern is making their first tournament appearance in the history of the program. The 8-seeded Wildcats will face Vanderbilt in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Thursday.

This is Chris Collins’ fourth year in Evanston, and his team barely missed the tournament with a 20-12 record last year. This year the Wildcats rank no. 48 in the RPI and posted a 5-8 record against RPI top 50 teams.

The Wildcats were the fifth best team in the Big Ten, but they didn’t finish the regular season well, going 3-6 in the final nine games. But they did manage two wins in the Big Ten tournament before losing to Wisconsin in the semifinals.

The Wildcats’ junior point guard, Bryant McIntosh, was named to second team All-Big Ten. McIntosh averaged 14.4 points and 5.2 assists this season.

Scottie Lindsey was also named to third team All-Big Ten after averaging 14.2 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 2.3 assists this season.

Dererk Pardon leads the Wildcats’ inside game, averaging 8.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 1.9 blocks this season.
