Arkansas Basketball: Road to the NCAA Final Four
By Matt Green
(8) Seton Hall (21-11)
Seton Hall comes into the tournament playing well. The Pirates won their final four games of the regular season, then beat Marquette in the quarterfinals of the Big East tournament.
The Pirates nearly beat the NCAA tournament’s overall 1-seed Villanova in the semifinals of the Big East tournament. After Josh Hart’s three-point-play put Villanova up 2 with 9.3 seconds remaining, Seton Hall’s Angel Delgado missed a contested layup in the final seconds.
If the Pirates can play with reigning national champion Villanova, they can play with anybody.
Seton Hall had three different players average 15+ points per game this season.
There were four unanimous Big East all-conference selections, and Angel Delgado was one of them. The 6’10 Dominican Republic-native averaged 15.3 points and 13.1 rebounds, the most rebounds per game in the country.
The Pirates’ leading scorer, Khadeen Carrington, was named to second-team All-Big East this season after averaging 16.9 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 3.0 assists.
Desi Rodriguez was the other member of the big three, averaging 15.9 points and 5.1 rebounds.
