(4) Butler or (12) Middle Tennessee State

Butler (23-8)

Brad Stevens might be gone, but the tradition of Butler basketball is not. The Bulldogs were the second best team in the Big East in the regular season and got a 4-seed in the NCAA Tournament,

They won four of their last five games to close out the regular season before losing to Xavier in the quarterfinals of the Big East Tournament.

They’re led by first-team All-Big East selection Andrew Chrabascz, who averaged 11.0 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 3.2 assists this season.

Middle Tennessee State (30-4)

The Blue Raiders are my top sleeper in this year’s tournament, and it wouldn’t be the first time they’ve made some noise in the Big Dance.

Middle Tennessee State busted all kinds of brackets (myself included) when they upset Michigan State as a 15-seed in last year’s tournament.

JaCorey Williams was named the Conference USA player of the year after averaging 17.3 points and 7.3 rebounds per game.

They’ll have to get past 5-seed Minnesota in the first round, but don’t sleep on the Blue Raiders.
