3. Can they close the gap with Alabama?

The gap between Alabama, and the next team in the SEC West is pretty large, both literally and figuratively.

But that could all change this year. Alabama is losing a lot of defensive studs, and no one is sure if Jalen Hurts will progress as a passer.

With Auburn potentially finding their star quarterback, as well as having a dangerous ground game, they could finally dethrone the team that has owned the SEC for years now.

Auburn returns seven starters on defense and they also have a kicker that is clutch when called upon.

The pieces are there for Malzahn. His teams have been rather underwhelming the last few years. But if some things bounce their way, we could see a repeat of the 2013 version of Auburn.
