SEC Football: Ranking the SEC Football Coaches 7 through 1
By Matt Green
6. Butch Jones, Tennessee
2016 was supposed to be the year for Jones and the Volunteers. They finally beat Florida for the first time since 2004, but they still failed to win the SEC East, something Tennessee hasn’t done since 2007.
Jones is in the same position as Malzahn and Sumlin. They could potentially get to the SEC Championship in 2017, but a 4 or 5-loss season could see them get canned.
Tennessee is 30-21 in four years under Jones, a .588 winning percentage. And after losing Joshua Dobbs, as well as nine other starters from last year’s team, it’s tough to imagine 2017 being better than their 9-4 record of 2016.
