No. 4 (Tie) Tennessee Volunteers and Arkansas Razorbacks

Vols: Five AP Top 25 Preseason Appearances. Average final rank differential, -3
Hogs: Five AP Top 25 Preseason Appearances, Average final rank differential, -3

Tennessee and Arkansas are fairly close in terms of start and finish rankings. For the Vols, the biggest drop was in 2016, when they fell from No. 9 in preseason to No. 22 by the final ranking.

Arkansas took a big tumble in 2012 when they started the season ranked No. 10 and finished unranked by the end of the season.

While neither of these teams scream “overrated” to us, it’s apparent they both get perhaps a little too much love from the voters. Tennessee in particular has come under fire in the last few seasons for not living up to some pretty lofty expectations.

As fate would have it, Butch Jones and Bret Bielema are two coaches who could be considered hot seat candidates in 2017 if some major improvements aren’t made.
