No. 2: Arkansas Razorbacks

Song Title: Arkansas Fight Song

Ding the Hogs a point for not even being able to come up with a real title to this song, but even without a catchy name, this fight song still is a rousing anthem.

The tune opens with the building of a augmented 6th chord, leading right into a peppy pick-up which begins the song. From there the tune is pretty cut-and-dry, but has some nice low brass countermelody, including some fancy slide work by the trombones.

In terms of lyrics, the song is fairly standard. Mentions of the team mascot, colors, spelling out of Arkansas, and of course (sigh) repeated cheer words like “fight” and “rah”, but with such a fun melody going on behind it, these are forgivable.

This one could be listened to just as a fun march even if you weren’t a football fan.
